Moving Trainz 2004 internal assets and sessions to Trainz 12

Unread postby davies_mike57 » Wed Jun 01, 2016 9:09 am

Members, Shane,

Have recently reloaded all my old Trainz software into a new faster computer.
In order to install Trainz 2004, and Trainz 2006 Collection I had to set the compatibility mode to Windows XP with service pack3, and the antivirus switched off.
Running the installation and playing with the inbuilt sessions was successful.
Amazed how these sessions were created and having more fun with them than playing with the TS12 version.
The Trainz 2004 version could only be run on a screen using 4:3 format (4:3 in wide) on a flat LCD display.

Anyway the big question would like to ask is:
Is it possible to merge the old inbuilt Trainz 2004 layouts and sessions into Trainz 12 service pack 1 (build 61388) :?:
I know that any downloaded kuids in the Trainz 2004 downloads folder can be transferred.

No problem with the Trainz 2006 version when following Shane's tutorials:

Not sure if there is (unless you've got Tafweb's TrainzObjectz tool which may allow you export them to CDP files).

Thanks for the reply Shane will have to download and research the Tafweb's TrainzObjectz tool capabilities.
Some of the older Auran TS2004 routes are already available on the Trainz download station.
